Our current problem is to develop this product and find a manufacturer who can deliver on our set requirements. We have considered sourcing the product locally due to unfriendly Forex regimes but looking at the quality we want, sourcing from Overseas will be preferred at this stage. We hope to find a Mentor who is an all rounder with Product development, branding and with some experience in Sales & Marketing. Someone who has an exceptional taste of quality and a very innovative mind. We have made contacts with a few people in this business before and based on their advice carried out a nationwide campaign and survey to ascertain the demand level and viability of this product in the Nigerian Market.
About my venture
This business is more a Social Enterprise than a full for profit venture. Basically we want to launch Health products to improve maternal health outcomes and reduce mortality and morbidity for poor women in rural communities. Nigeria today ranks high among countries with high maternal deaths arising as a result of poor access to quality medicare and high cost of medical consumables. With high Forex exchange rates and very tough business terrain, most entrepreneurs find it extremely hard to start and sustain a business especially with a social mission standing tall as part of their corporate values.
This is where we differ. I plan to launch Mama Kits and other commodities into the Market and use existing retail Pharmacy chains, Primary Health Centres, Private and Public Hospitals as my distributive channels.
