What I need help with

My background as an entrepreneur

My current challenges

This being a start up project, the main challenges we are facing are but not limited to:- Cultural barrier. Its been difficult to get the locals attention on the importance of planting trees in the sense that, they couldn't get the economic value of trees and the long time it takes to mature. Hence we had to come up with alternatives of introducing trees which take less than five years to mature. Funding. Currently we funding the project through members contributions and support from well wishers, therefore if we could get mentorship on how to write proposal to get funds from organisations we will be so grateful.

About my venture

Green Shimoni Initiative Started 2019

Green Shimoni Initiative is an influential and environmental tree planting project, registered as a nonprofit Community Based Organisation that is located in Kenya. Our main objective is to encourage the local community to embrace agro forestry by educating them on the important role trees play in the environment and how they can improve their livelihoods through agro-forestry. Agro forestry is a land use management system, in which trees are grown around or among crops or pasture land. This intentional combination has varied benefits including increased biodiversity and reduced erosions. Our community based project will show that, with local people involved, we can strike the delicate balance between development and conservation. In order to reach a large proportion of our target group (the local community), we organise local workshops and school outreach programmes about actions everyone should take to protect the environment.
