How do I figure price breakdowns for quantity in wholesale

I have a product, it cost me $7.78 to just buy the products for it. It is Handcrafted and American made, but can be cheaper if I buy the most expensive parts from China in quantity...lots of, but would like to keep it American made. Side-note, I tried to buy from China and the shipping for container price for small qty of 1000-2500 4oz glass spice jars was more than the product I was to buy making using local suppliers cheaper. How is that?

The first question is whether you want to offer any significant volume discounts. Since you're selling handcrafted items, how does volume discounting affect your item's perceived value?

As for volume pricing, prepare a cost break-down for your item at various volume levels, factor in any economies of scale that you can achieve and add in your mark-up. You may be able to achieve economies of scale on raw materials, shipping costs, labor, packaging, etc.
