How can I increase SEO of my website/ social media?

I have developed some unique health tea blends, 100% based on scientific research. Teas taste great without adding any flours, not even natural flavors. I started my business last November and so far I have made over $1000 in sales, before the local Spring markets got cancelled due to COVID 19 outbreak. My challenge is to promote my products on social media and through my website and derive sales. I am hoping to get a grant in the Fall. I won't be able to put in any more personal funds into the business for at least six months from now. I would like to use this time to learn more about digital marketing and related topics during this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Dami

Networking is a vital tool in achieving an image/brand. Establish a network like a wheel. The hub is core content (web site, blog, books, articles, useful materials). The spokes leading from the hub are the tools to network content that is linked to the hub.

Contacts are the engines that power the wheel.

Content is the fuel that feeds the social networking contacts and powers the wheel.

As the wheel turns, the quality of the networking improves with feedback and the wheel climbs the optimization hill of the major search engines (SEO).

Limiting factors are the quality of the core content and knowledge/persistence in networking.

Set up a Google or Word Press blog as an extension of your web site. A blog is quite different from a web site. Provide good, solid information free of charge and use blog searches for synergistic businesses to team with. Teaming is an absolute necessity these days.

Be prepared to provide information, samples and valuable service gratis as a marketing tool. Introduce yourself and then immediately engage the client or potential teaming partner with your presentation tools available to bring your expertise to whatever topic they are interested in.

Let them take you where they want to go with their concerns and their needs. Apply your presentation tools and expertise dynamically The idea is to refer clients to article links at your web site and your blog to avoid having to repeat yourself over and over in new business marketing, thereby keeping yourself available for specific inquiries and closing deals.

Link everything together and begin answering questions as well as registering at many of the free applications for networking web sites on the Internet to see how that can benefit your product and services. Utilities like Twitter, Alignable, Pinterest and About Me will serve your site well.

You may wish to consider Google Ad Sense for cash flow. It is free and could supplement your income with ads in the margin of your blog.

Integrating and networking platforms together is the best approach. Most of the free applications of the type discussed here have profile features to link back to your blog and many will automatically publish your content on their site, once linked.

Content is king and the queen is a hub of strong useful information with spokes emanating from it like those of a wheel to many free social networking platforms where your brand, your consistency and your offerings drive the engine that is your enterprise.

Hi Dami,

Focusing on bringing in online sales is definitely the right approach currently.

Assuming that you already have a good social media presence. Here are few things that businesses in your niche are doing for social.

  1. Get tons of social proof, collect testimonies in text and video format and share the same on social media as well as website.
  2. Share more on how your tea blend is different. Certifications etc.
  3. Use influencer marketing
  4. Test Facebook ads with sale/conversion as a goal.
  5. Work on your current customer database. Referral campaigns or even loyalty programs can help.

For SEO, work on your website, update old content. Work on more blogger outreach or get some media recognition with tools like HARO.

Focus on free helpful content. You may not see immediate results, but will help you in the long run.

Answer specific queries via blogs and add tips, usage, benefits and some DIYs with your tea blends.

These are few of them to start with if not done yet. There are more as you continue to learn.

Hope this helps!

Since your final goal is to derive sales via your website, I would highly recommend creating a funnel through social media (Facebook ads) which sends your potential customers directly to a landing page where you can get them to convert. But as far as I understood, you do not want to put any money for at least the current coming 6 months. So ads on social media strategy is not suitable for your budget.

In this case, I can mainly suggest going organic i.e develop your organic digital marketing strategy for these 6 months and later with your grant you can start putting ads. Here are a few way to do organic digital marketing.

  • Social media content: Create a content strategy for each of your social media accounts. Create a social media calendar with content buckets. Start putting content about how your product creates value for the consumers, start building trust through testimonials from your current customers, dessiminate these on social media, engage your social media community through quizzes, polls and contests, throw in some fun facts and did you knows.. Create a campaign surrounding the current covid situation with a unique hashtag, to resonate and empathise with the viewers.

  • SEO: (easy ones) a) Your website should contain sufficient, reliable, relatable and value providing content inside it. b) Each webpage should contain one unique keyword (+synonyms LSI) with high reach and less competition. But make sure your written content looks natural and not stuffed with keywords. c) Internally link the pages inside the website d) Try getting backlinks from similar related businesses which are authentic. Consult the businesses personally. e) Have a blog with informative articles. (have response blogs which directly answer to some questions of readers - identify what might be asked) This helps in gaining the snippet position in Google f) Make sure the heading includes the keyword (possibly on the leftmost side) g) Make sure to optimise your URL and meta description with the keyword h) Don't forget small details like linking images, filling up the alt text with keywords i) Special: With the current algorithm update, make sure you address issue of covid in your website. It has been seen that websites talking about covid through its products or blogs are ranking higher.

  • The User Experience on Website: Ensure that your website is clutter free and minimalistic. It must be easy for the visitor to navigate through your website. The best way to understand this is put yourself into the shoes of your potential customer (buyer persona) and navigate through the website with that mindset. Note down and work on the bugs and points of improvement throughout the customer journey within the website. Make sure the CTA buttons are easy to understand and direct.

  • A DIFFERENT APPROACH: Build a personal brand on LinkedIn and promote your business there. When you have a personal brand, you become believable and trustworthy and people will listen to your pitches and even might convert to sales!

So here they are, will take time but are much cost friendly. You can give them a try for these 6 months and then later put up ads to directly convert.

Hope this helps!

Please feel free to reach me if you woudl like to discuss in depth. :)
