Most Certified Public Accountants (CPA) such as myself will usually recommend that people use QuickBooks. There is an army of QuickBooks-certified experts across the United States; not to mention various support groups, books, YouTube videos, webinars, etc. Almost every Bookkeeper uses QuickBooks. So if you want the strongest back-end platform possible across multiple channels to support your accounting efforts, QuickBooks is an excellent choice. And finally, CPA's like QuickBooks because it is easy to generate financial statements and we want every small business owner to review financial statements on a regular basis. For maximum reporting power, most CPA's prefer the desktop version over the online cloud version; but it's your choice.

Although I don't have an accounting background, I've heard great things about Fresh Books. Its focus is to streamline payments by making it easier for others to pay. Example is being able to pay via credit cards. I've heard they have great customer service based out of Canada that's with a live person. There are also built-in feature that make it easier to know if you're being profitable prior to doing year-end taxes.
