Depending on your company, department, increase your professional development by obtaining a certification (Certified business analyst, PMP, CAPM, ITIL, etc.) that can add value not just in your current department, but across the organization (or help to leverage and market you to another new opportunity with more responsibilities elsewhere). You can also take free courses (business analyst, blockchain, big data, data analytics, digital environments, AI/ML, etc.) on coursera, udemy, khan academy; learn to code for free if it can help (plenty of resources out here) boost your value. Find a pain point your department may be having and see how you can alleviate it. The ability to ease the stress and streamline smooth operations for your supervisor, manager without putting out fires and 11th hour chaos, the better. Hopefully your supervisor, manager champions growth, fosters a collaborative environment. Network, have coffee, go to lunch with people that you respect in and outside of the department to see what their responsibilities are to see if it is something you want to achieve and reach. Sometimes leaders, supervisors, managers in other departments can create a new role based on your experience and how you can help with the overall business strategy to meet goals and objectives for the year. Connect and find someone in HR that gets the new job opening requisitions. When and if something comes up, they will let you know and you can start networking within to achieve great things.
