Détail de la question
I am meeting expectations at work but I want more our of my IT Business Analyst role to acquire a promotion and/or receive more demanding responsibilities and/or role. I have attempted to have the conversation of "what's next" for my role but am beginning to realize I need to present more context to help my team understand what I want to do vs what I am currently doing.

KNOW how much leadership to offer and how much to let the individual grow on his or her own. STRIKE The right balance between specific and generic guidance so the unique individual traits of the workers come through in the business model so solutions to problems, system design and success are derived from the people supporting the enterprise and not from the leader. MANAGE constructively by fostering an environment respectful of all points of view but drive to fulfilling progressive objectives as a first priority and blend differences of opinion decisively. Depending on your company, department, increase your professional development by obtaining a certification (Certified business analyst, PMP, CAPM, ITIL, etc.) that can add value not just in your current department, but across the organization (or help to leverage and market you to another new opportunity with more responsibilities elsewhere). You can also take free courses (business analyst, blockchain, big data, data analytics, digital environments, AI/ML, etc.) on coursera, udemy, khan academy; learn to code for free if it can help (plenty of resources out here) boost your value. Find a pain point your department may be having and see how you can alleviate it. The ability to ease the stress and streamline smooth operations for your supervisor, manager without putting out fires and 11th hour chaos, the better. Hopefully your supervisor, manager champions growth, fosters a collaborative environment. Network, have coffee, go to lunch with people that you respect in and outside of the department to see what their responsibilities are to see if it is something you want to achieve and reach. Sometimes leaders, supervisors, managers in other departments can create a new role based on your experience and how you can help with the overall business strategy to meet goals and objectives for the year. Connect and find someone in HR that gets the new job opening requisitions. When and if something comes up, they will let you know and you can start networking within to achieve great things. #keepgrinding Publié le 04/06/19

My suggestions and opinions - Ensure that your manager(s) see that you are able to do the work on your plate with ease, and ask for more work. What this shows is that you are ready for more! I find that you will not be given more work (promotions! better positions!) if leadership doesn´t think that you can do the work that is already assigned to you with ease. Get your work done more efficiently so you have extra time then ask your manager and other leadership "is there anything I can do to help you?" Volunteer for anything that leadership is looking for help on. Take the job that you want. Literally, do the things that your promoted position does. Is it managing projects?...then manage a project. Is it managing people... then take a group under your wing and be their mentor. Do the work/tasks now - you don´t need the title or money to do the job typically. Titles and money can come second. Watch leadership and management videos or read books - this is key to train yourself for the job. After about a year of proving how great of a job you are doing and how you are ready for more ... that is the time to ask for that promotion! :) Publié il y a 3 semaines
